Sharing our Knowledge and Love of Christ
With Those In Alaska
The April 2009 Alaska Mission Trip has been cancelled. If you have interest in the October 2009 trip, please let us know.
A planning meeting will be scheduled in the coming months.
According to the 2000 Census, 22.5% of the people in the area around Copper Center claim Church affiliation. When you remove the Mormons, the figure drops to 19.1%. Considering ½ of those who claim church membership actually are active, there is a great need for mission!
Todd, Kim, Audrie, Kalae, Karis and Amani Roeske are serving with the Alaska Mission for Christ - a non-profit corporation organized and directed by the churches of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Alaska. Their goal is to reach the small and often remote settlements and villages of Alaska with the message of the Gospel.
Over 25 people came to the first Alaska Mission Trip meeting in April!
The enthusiastic turn-out was encouraging and awesome. Many of our questions were answered like “What will the weather be like?” It will depend upon when we travel as to what the temperature might be. It could be 10 below or 50 above. We are considering possibly going at two different times.
Tentative Dates for the trip: October 17-25, 2009 AND April 2010. We will work with the theme of Family Building. Hopefully, one program will be used in 4-5 different towns during the evenings and we will help improve homes during the daytime hours.
Please pray for the Lord’s leading in the planning of these trips.
This trip is sponsored by Calvary’s Parish Education Ministry.
