SEE THE GOOD

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

100 Years

Imagine the changes that have taken place over the past 100 years. Life in 1921 was radically different then our life today. Our modern appliances, aerospace, medical advancements, manufacturing, communications, and computer technologies have all rendered vast changes with new inventions. WWI had just ended. The impact of the Spanish Flu pandemic was still felt as it ended in April, 1920. The Great Depression was 10 years away and WWII would once again gather the world in war and conflict.

New industries have evolved and migration from rural to urban settings continues to be the population trend. 100 years- That is the length of life that Mrs. Mabel Schwark will celebrate on September 7. Mrs. Schwark has been in attendance at our opening and closing chapel services for all 72 years of Calvary Lutheran School. Mr. August Schwark was the first principal of Calvary back in 1950. He served in that capacity until 1976. He continued to serve in the school teaching various classes and substituting until 1984. Mr. Schwark passed away in 2008. Mrs. Schwark continues to reside in the home immediately south of the church.

Many things have changed over 100 years, but one thing that remains constant is the saving love of God the Father through the death and Resurrection of Jesus. This we proclaim each day at Calvary Lutheran Church and School. Many students and staff have come through these hallways. All have heard the Good News of Salvation. They in turn have taken that Word of Salvation with them over these years to nearly every continent. We See the Good as we gather each day.

We celebrate with Mrs. Schwark on her 100th birthday. We rejoice as she has and continues to support and love the students and staff.

**Happy Birthday & Bell Ringing-

On Tuesday, September 7th the students and staff will gather in her adjacent backyard and join in a robust singing of a HAPPY BIRTHDAY tribute. Since Mrs. Schwark rings the school bell at the start and conclusion of each school year we would invite all to bring any bells to school on the 7th and we will ring all the bells after we sing Happy Birthday.
