Clearly Seeing — 20/20

CLEARLY SEEING

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”    (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Clearly Seeing — 20/20

Visual acuity is usually measured with a Snellen chart. Snellen charts display letters of progressively smaller size. 20/20 vision is a term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity or sharpness of vision) measured at a distance of 20 feet. If you have 20/20 vision, you can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. Corrective prescriptive lens help to focus our eyes to that 20/20 mark.

We have entered 2020. December’s calendar sheets are expired. 2019 is now part of history. What do you see for 2020? Are there any significant anniversaries or family events during this year for you? It is difficult to imagine that we are 20 years into the new millennium already.

I would contend that every year holds great significance and urgency. Clearly seeing this comprises our walk in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. Each year that passes we march closer to the day that the Lord will come again. It is quite necessary that we indeed teach Christ crucified for the forgiveness of our sins. It is through His Word and sacraments that we are drawn to the urgency of this Gospel message.

During 2020 “let us ever walk with Jesus follow His example pure. Flee the world, which would deceive us and to sin our souls allure. Ever in His footsteps treading, body here, yet soul above, full of faith and hope and love. Let us do the Father's bidding. Faithful Lord, abide with me. Savior, lead, I follow Thee.”

In this manner we will see clearly His love, mercy, and grace. Happy New Year!
