“Happy Mother's Day”
I heard someone tell me once that God’s love is illustrated through the hearts of our mothers. I readily agreed. God does indeed shower His love on us through our mothers. When I was a child I took the love of my mother for granted. Her care, counsel, presence, sacrifice, wisdom, understanding was often received without acknowledged appreciation. A swift, ”Thanks, Mom!” was usually uttered, but without much depth of thoughtful realization. Upon further reflection to my childhood, I wish that I could once again tell my Mom- Happy Mothers’ Day! with a full acknowledged and appreciated love.
I actually began to more fully comprehend all that a mother does each day through the actions and heart of my wife and mother of our two daughters and now her relationship with our 8 grandchildren. She showed and continues to show me very clearly what the love of a mother and grandmother comprises. I failed to come close to the daily care, counsel, presence, sacrifice, and understanding that Cheryl so lovingly gave of herself 24/7 to our daughters. I now see the mark of her motherhood on our grown daughters as they carry on that same love for their families. More importantly is the love of God shared by her which now through the power of the Holy Spirt has transcended generations. Let us not take the love of our mothers for granted, but to celebrate each day this precious and wonderful gift from God.
