Oh, the Places You’ll Go

by Steve Rensner on March 04, 2021

This week our Kindergarten celebrated Dr. Seuss Week. It coincides with the first week in March since Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904. I would imagine that most of our students have some Dr. Seuss books in their homes. I remember getting these books as presents for birthdays, Christmas, and the first and last days of school each year. I shared these books with my daughters as they grew up. These books have now been passed on to our grandchildren. The rhyming and rhythm of the books equip young readers with a pattern to follow.

I wonder if Theodore Geisel would have ever imagined the places that he would go through his writings as well as all the places that he would take his readers through their imagination. Theodore Geisel began writing with the pseudonym of Dr. Seuss in 1928 which was his mother’s maiden as well as his middle name. His writing was not initially accepted. His first books were rejected by editors and publishers. Yet he persevered.

Have you ever imagined all the places that God is leading and preparing for you to go? Each day together as parents, teachers, and pastors we are preparing and equipping the children of Calvary for the journeys that God is leading them to follow. We walk by faith. When I was in 6th grade I felt God’s Calling to teach, but never imagined all the places, challenges, and opportunities that would accompany that journey. The great news for us today is that God does not send us alone. He goes before us.

I thank God for the opportunity each day to serve with our faculty members as they invest and share their gifts with the students. I rejoice in the partnership that is truly formed with our parents as together we build and fortify each child through God’s directing. I look forward to future years hearing the places our students will go as they answer the Lord’s Calling in their lives.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV

Oh, the places that God will send you!! Amen
