“Be on your guard; STAND FIRM in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
One and Done
Out of the 68 teams selected for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, which team will win their final game of the season? Have you completed your tournament bracket? Who did you pick to reign supreme?
The grandeur of this tournament is that one loss and you are out. No second chances. The stakes are high. Also the entire country is captivated by this because schools from every corner are entered. The fan base is huge. Studies actually show that work productivity lessens during the first two weeks when games air on Thursday and Friday during the work day. Even the food ads in this week’s paper highlight game time snacks. The excitement builds.
What do you experience in your life that has the same one and done mentality? Most everything that we encounter gives second chances. You fail the bar exam the first try. Reapplication is possible. A teenager visits the DMV striving to gain the coveted driver’s license only to fail the test. Another chance is easily accessible. Life usually gives us all another chance. Thanks be to God that through Christ we have been given far more “chances.” For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24) We are able to STAND FIRM in the gift of God’s grace. We need not fear for we have been redeemed. The battle is over. We share in the victory.
