What did you receive for Christmas?

FULLY COMMITTED
Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.     — Proverbs 16:3

What did you receive for Christmas?

What was on your list? Did you receive those things on your list? Any need to return gifts received or given? What was the best gift that you received as well as the best gift given?

I enjoy beginning the Gazette article with a question or two. Hopefully it provides for you a chance to ponder and to reflect. By now I would imagine that many Christmas decorations are already packed away for next year. The store shelves are nearly void of Christmas past items. Hearts and cupids have already filled those spaces. Many items given and received are no longer as new and exciting as when first opened. Time continues to march on as we have entered 2021.

One additional question – Were frankincense or myrrh on your gift list? I suppose gold would be an item on everybody’s list at one time or another. Yesterday was the 12th day of Christmas. In the church year yesterday was Epiphany. This marks the arrival of the Magi from the east as they came to worship the newborn King. Epiphany is part of the church year that is sometimes overlooked. Epiphany is the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi. The angels heralded the birth of Christ to Judean shepherds. The arrival of the Magi reveals God’s plan for the salvation of the entire world. The Light for all people has come. We have all received the greatest gift ever given – the love of God wrapped up in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Our prayer for 2021 is that we stand FULLY COMMITTED as through faith we have the joy to unwrap this gift each and every day receiving God’s love with thanks and praise.
