STAND FIRM

"Be on your guard; STAND FIRM in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13

When in Rome...

Have you heard that expression before? The entire phrase is “When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do.” The phrase refers to the importance of adapting yourself to the customs of the people who are in a certain place or situation and behave like they do. We are to conform to God’s call as His People STANDING FIRM in the face of any and all obstacles and not to the world, our sinful self, and the devil. This includes our time in the work place, in our homes, and in the hallways, classrooms, gymnasium, restrooms, and cafeteria during our school days. This is to be our way of life when authorities are present or absent. We ask the Lord to grant to us His Spirit enabling us to remain acting and speaking in His Name. We are free within the school day to do unto others as we would have done to us. We are free to speak God’s Name in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. This is indeed a joy to have as we celebrate each day. God did not tell us to live according to His precepts only on Sunday mornings or only during Religion class at school. He commands for us to live as witnesses of His love and grace. We are to tell others this Great News that is ours. Others should see in us His love through our deeds and conduct. We seek the Lord’s redemptive hand when we fall short as we sin. When in Rome, Indiana, Indianapolis, or Greenwood let us seek the Lord’s Kingdom first.
