Life Under the Good Shepherd

Passage: John 10:22-30

Preacher: Pastor Kurt Ebert

Series: Easter

Category: Calvary Lutheran Church

Keywords: god’s will, identity, shepherd, vocation, witness

Summary

In today’s reading, Jesus is asked to tell the Jewish people plainly His identity. The irony is Jesus has not only spent the previous nine chapters in John proclaiming His vocation and identity through His words and His works, but three times in this chapter He makes a clear identification that He is Israel’s Shepherd and the Door to the sheep. So, what does it mean for our lives and our vocations today to be the sheep of the Good Shepherd? What difference does it make that our Good Shepherd died and rose again so that not even death can snatch us from His hand? Jesus invites us today into the joy of the fullness of life, as we hear His voice and follow His steps each day of our lives.
