A New Start….or is it?
Cries of Happy New Year – 2024! were resoundedly announced and heard at midnight around the globe on December 31st. Perhaps you stayed up to greet the new year’s arrival as well. Many people usher in the new year by making resolutions. Commercial vendors connect with many of these resolutions by providing discounts for weight loss programs and gym memberships. People announce a new and fresh start. But what makes this new day different from every other 12:01AM?
God does indeed give to each of us a new start through the salvation that is ours in Christ Jesus. The coming of the new year is special in itself as it marks the passage of time and completion of another year. Yet we are not charged with waiting to seek change ideally at a new year. God has equipped us to seek His will through faith. What are we waiting for? Happy New Year! Happy each day that we are called, gathered, and enlightened into God’s family.
