At Calvary, everyone can be involved in Worship, in Service, and in Our Communities. Communities are some of our less formal groups, where people gather for fellowship, fun, service, and support.
Our mission is to assure expectant parents of the love of God for them and their infant. We knit and crochet blankets for their newborns. Each blanket has a tag sewn in. The tag has a cross and says "God's blessings from Calvary Lutheran Church". The majority of these are given to the Life Center on Hanna Ave.
We meet once or twice a month on Thursdays, 6:00–8:00 p.m. in the cafe area. All skill level and ages are welcome- ladies are available to give instructions to beginners.
Community leader is Susan Daniels.
Looking for something to do on Thursday morning? The quilting group is now meeting every Thursday from 9:00-11:30 a.m. to make simple quilts for missions. We send quilts to El Salvador and India with our mission teams and for Lutheran World Relief. At present, we’ve been asked by IU Methodist to discontinue Puppy Pillows and make comfort quilts for trauma patients.
If you can use a pair of scissors, an iron, a needle or a sewing machine, or if you have an eye for coordinating colors, we’d love to have you. We have a lot of fun and fellowship as we work. We love to teach others, so come join us on Thursday. Questions? Jan Dunaway, 317-292-2968 or Judy Kirkland, 317-885-8512.
Activities include cutting squares to be sewn together for the quilt top, sewing 10 inch fabric squares together to make a 60 inch by 80 inch quilt top, adding backing to the quilt (which can be fabric or a sheet), and tying the quilt in various locations to bind the front and back together. Members often donate cotton fabric and sheets (clean, used, or new sheets – size full or larger).
In 2015 and 2016 over 100 quilts were made for Lutheran World Relief. The quilts were given to refugees and people in need.

Sew Blessed meets from 9:00 AM to noon on the 3rd Saturday of every month in the Narthex by the church mailboxes. We share sewing tips and techniques and well as projects we’re working on or have completed. We normally sew blankets or quilts and donate them to various ministries such as the Calvary Bazaar, Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction, LuFest, LWML, Blankets for Babies, etc. Our goal is to sew, socialize, and share, but not to create more UFOs (UnFinished Objects).
If you want to learn more about Sew Blessed, please contact Sandra Wilson.

Stretching Souls is a group of adults that meet once per week to stretch and exercise. We open with Bible readings and a short devotion. After a warm up session we stretch, work with light hand weights, work our arms and legs with resistance bands, and do light calisthenics. All the while enjoying fellowship and the company of fellow believers.
Whether it's doing the "Penguin", Les's "hand tapping", Nancy's "weights behind your head" or Barb's "Pretzel", there is something for everyone...
Class meets on Thursdays at 12:00 PM in the South Narthex. The time is flexible if anyone has a conflict. Adults of all ages are welcome — please consider joining us!
There are lots of good reasons to regularly carve out more time to stretch:

Adults of all ages (high school and up) are welcome. No specific experience is required. If you like to sing and want to lift up your voice in praise to the Lord, come join us! New singers are always welcome, and we need all voice ranges.
