How Well Are You Doing at Giving Thanks?

by Pastor Kurt Ebert on November 01, 2025

Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8-9

Do you ever get to the end of Thanksgiving and realize that you didn’t even get the chance to give thanks? With all the cleaning, cooking, and hosting on the one hand and all the “bargain” shopping, football, and turkey-induced napping on the other, we hardly find the time to stop, reflect, and give thanks for the gifts that have been poured into our lives by the Giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17).

So, I ask you, “How do you plan to give thanks this year? This year, how will you ‘give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love’ in your life?’ (Psalm 107:8).” You may already have your longstanding tradition of how you return thanks to the Lord. It may be something you do individually or collectively. It may be something very formal or informal, but whatever you do to give thanks this Thanksgiving may you always know just how richly and bountifully loved you are by our Heavenly Father in Jesus Christ our Lord. May our God give you the joy and thanksgiving in this time of year, whether it has been a year of much or little, and may he give you the peace that surpasses all understanding that will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

God’s Blessings,

Pastor Kurt Ebert
