Only 12 Sundays
There are only 12 more Sundays until the running of the 110th Indianapolis 500. News media outlets have already shared that information. The planning and preparation for this huge event never ends. People within that organization work day after day covering aspects necessary for the race to occur. As the time for the actual race day draws nearer the number of deadlines and needs grows seemingly unsurmountable. If you are planning on attending the race you may have already made some plans. If you hold annual tickets those were reserved months ago. Connecting with friends and family would require communication as well. The May 24th date for the race is much earlier than normal. This adds another layer of time constraints.
Our day-to-day schedules are impacted by events in the future. The first day of school requires tremendous changes as part of the preparation. New clothing, purchasing school supplies, doctor’s visit, and other aspects go into being ready for the new school year. Holiday celebrations include travel plans, special foods, decorations, and so much more. We look at the needs that tomorrow might bring.
God calls us to consider our faith walk and today. Our futures with Him have already been determined. Jesus tells us that He is preparing a place in His mansion for all believers. As believers in Christ our eternal life is secure. We are confident in our hope as His words of Promise declare. The Holy Spirit enters our hearts day after day continuing to guide and lead us through faith.
We can make all the greatest plans for 12 Sundays from now. The race might get rained out and postponed. Holiday travels might be impacted by a host of other issues. Nothing is guaranteed for tomorrow here on earth. It is very comforting knowing that all is secure in God.
