Good Friday Worship
Friday, April 03, 2026, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
The Service of Darkness recalls the hours Jesus spent on the cross, when even the sun grew dim. Candles are extinguished to remind us of the darkness of that day and our sinful world. The removal of the Christ Candle near the end of the service signifies the death of Jesus. The loud sound—the strepitus—represents the closing of the tomb. Today, we remember Jesus’ crucifixion. And yet, in the midst of the sadness, we have hope. Death is not the end of Jesus, nor is it the end of us. We depart in confidence, knowing that the light of Easter Sunday will scatter the darkness of Good Friday.
