Nineteen youth and six adults from Calvary joined over 20,000 people in Minneapolis, Minnesota July 10-16 for the 2019 LCMS National Youth Gathering!

The LCMS National Youth Gathering (NYG) takes places every 3 years and offers opportunities for high school students to learn, serve, and worship together. The theme for this year's gathering was “Real Present God” based on Psalm 46. The event was held July 10-16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nineteen youth and six adults from Calvary Lutheran Church joined a group from Holy Cross on the northeast side of Indianapolis on a 10 hours bus trip to Minneapolis. The group stayed at the downtown Hyatt Regency.

Speakers led sessions in the convention center during the day and there were mass events with all 20,000 people in the US Bank Stadium every night. This is where the Minnesota Vikings play their home games. This was the first time NYG has been in Minnesota. Beyond the typically NYG experience, our group attended the Indiana District event at Concordia St. Paul. Here the kids were able to try lumberjack activities such as sawing logs and running on floating timber. Additionally, after the gathering was over, we had an afternoon at the Mall of America.

The Youth Ministry Team at Calvary has already started planning for NYG 2022 which will take place in Houston, Texas! Youth that are currently in 6-10th grade will be eligible to attend. For those interested, please complete a pre-registration form, available in the church office. This does not require any commitment but does help us plan accordingly and keep you in the know about any NYG updates.

All the attendees grew in their relationships with each other and with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Our youth and the entire Youth Ministry Team thanks Calvary members for their generous support!

We hope this video conveys some of the great experiences our youth had at NYG 2019.
