Summary
Why are we often so reluctant to share our doubts, our fears, and our struggles with others? We fear opening up to others because it makes us vulnerable. What does it mean for John the Baptist, the one proclaimed by Jesus to be ‘the greatest among those born of woman’, to have doubts about Jesus? None of us are sufficient by ourselves. All of us are called to rely upon God. Jesus has our best in mind, even when we are in our worst moments of doubt or despair. How do we know? We look to the unsurpassed care and compassion that he shows for us by going to the cross and tomb.
