Lord, If It Is You...

Passage: Matthew 14:22-33

Preacher: Pastor Kurt Ebert

Series: Pentecost

Keywords: faith, compassion, trust, power, hope, salvation, suffering, humility, rescue, miracle, trouble, care, son of god

Summary

The wind was howling, the sea was rolling, the rain was falling, and the disciples were rowing with all their might trying to get back to the shore, when suddenly they saw something, more specifically someone ON the water approaching the boat. They cried in fear, but Jesus called in compassion. Just imagine for a second things from the disciples’ perspective, but perhaps more importantly imagine what things were like from Jesus’ perspective, as the disciples cower, Peter challenges and then ultimately falters, but Jesus…Jesus never stops his compassionate pursuit of seeing not just the disciples grow in faith, trust, and understanding of who he is and what he has come to do. Even today, Jesus still pursues us with the same compassionate care, desiring that we may know him and trust him through the storms of life.
