The Courtyard: A Place of Renewal

Summary
We join Peter in the courtyard as he has followed Jesus so far in His progression to the cross. As Jesus is examined inside, Peter is questioned outside. Three times Peter denies. Three times Peter fails. We might ask, “How could he?,” but I think we can all understand the pressure. But now we must ask, “How can he? How can Peter come back from such a devastating blow to his self-conception?” Peter is not just a cautionary tale but another image of God’s grace for us to celebrate and embrace in our moments when we deny the power of Christ in our lives.
