Summary

Paul reminds us in Romans 6:1-11, not only what baptism is, but why it is important. Baptism is the amazing work of God in which He unites us with His Son Jesus, so what is true of Jesus is true of us. Baptism doesn’t just symbolize, but it works in us a new relationship and identity in Him, giving the freedom, life, and power to live for God today. Baptism isn’t just about the past or the future. Baptism supplies us with the gospel assurance of God’s grace for today. If we have been so freely loved at the cross of Jesus, how shall we live by the grace of the cross today.
