The Unlikeliest Places. The Unlikeliest People.

Passage: Matthew 2:1-11

Preacher: Pastor Kurt Ebert

Keywords: compassion, welcome, birth, nativity, wise men, magi, surprise, inclusion

Summary

You’ve probably heard it said that it is believed that the wise men probably weren’t at the stable at the first Christmas. They likely arrived at a later time to visit the infant Jesus. However, it’s not just that they were late that is surprising. It’s that they were there at all. The first hearers of the events of Christmas would have been surprised to hear these magi from the east had come to worship the one born King of the Jews. We marvel as well to see just how wide the love of Christ reaches to bring in the unlikeliest people.
