Congregational Voter’s Meeting
The 2021 Voters Meeting was held in two sessions in the Sanctuary on Saturday, June 5 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, June 6 at 11:45 PM. Calvary Celebrates 90th Anniversary
Did you know that Calvary is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2021? On January 21, 1931 Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church was officially organized. We have come a long way from the portable chapel that still stands at 1531 East Epler Avenue. We give thanks to God for all His blessings to our congregation and its people. We will celebrate this fall!
May He continue to bless our congregation in the years ahead!
Connecting with God and One Another
Here are some exiting opportunities and information...
Video Ministry (Worship Services, Bible Study, Children’s Ministry, etc.)
We give thanks to God for the many ways that we are able to reach out to our community and beyond with our video ministry. We have heard wonderful stories of people from our community and all around the country checking out our worship, Bible study, and children’s ministry videos. Check out more at clcs.org/videos.
If you do not have internet access but would like DVD copies of our worship services to watch in your home, please contact the church office (317) 783-2000.
Onsite Worship Update Saturdays (6:30 PM) and Sundays (8:00 & 10:45 AM)
On Monday night, June 7, 2021, the City-County Council members approved a proposal to change Marion County’s COVID-19 limitations. The city’s mask mandate has been lifted for people who are fully vaccinated. Masks will still be required in Marion County inside hospitals and airports or on public transportation. Capacity for religious services and funerals was increased to 100% (up from 75%).
In response to changes to the Marion County Mask mandate, Calvary has made the following transitions within our ministry events beginning this weekend (June 12/13).
Saturday evening worship:
In order to provide an onsite option for those who are managing vulnerable conditions or still taking greater precautions, we will continue to require masks at our Saturday evening service for a 2-week trial basis. We will continue to evaluate our plans for the weeks that follow.
Sunday morning worship:
We will fall in line with the proposed changes by the CDC and Marion County making both Sunday services as mask optional services for those who are vaccinated.
Bible studies & meetings:
These will be mask optional unless the members of a specific Bible study or ministry group choose as a whole to ask all in attendance to wear a mask.
We thank you for your continued efforts to respect, honor, and care for one another in these transitional times. We have an opportunity each and every day to serve one another in a Christlike fashion, as we live together in his grace and compassion. We will continue to make adjustments within our worship services and ministry life as we continue to head to normal operations in the weeks ahead.
Pastor Kurt Ebert
We continue to strive to provide meaningful worship opportunities in the midst of the pandemic.
- We have started the process of a gradual return to a more “normal” worship experience. Each decision is intentional and thoughtful regarding the specifics of current community realities. Here are some of the most recent adjustments.
- The video screen continues to be the main resource for the liturgy and hymns, but we have begun printing bulletins for those who wish to have a hardcopy.
- The Lord’s Supper has been returned to its normal location within the order of service, rather than at the conclusion of service.
- We continue to make adjustments within our distribution process for the Lord’s Supper to ensure that it is carried out in a respectful and efficient manner. We hope to transition to a more “normal” distribution process by mid-summer.
- The Fellowship Pads have been returned to the Sanctuary at the individual seating locations, but we have also provided the option to record your attendance online (clcs.org/attendance).
- Greeters have been reinstated but are primarily greeting outside.
- Additional seating locations have been added to the sanctuary to provide for increasing onsite attendance.
- We continue to encourage social distancing within worship and continue to skip pews providing space and comfort for those in worship.
- Offerings continue at this time to be gathered in the collection bins at each door.
- Those joining us for online worship may set up a time to receive private communion at the church from one of the pastors (Monday–Friday). Please contact the church office (317-783-2000 or ) to schedule a time.
